In this video I head over to the area of mangga besar in west Jakarta. I am on a quest to know more about the stinky fruit known as ''durian''. From what I know already its a spiky large fruit, that is known to be extremely potent. But that doesn't the stop the locals from eating it. I am going to found out why, shortly after I arrive to the spot where I will try durian for the first time. I am greeted by the seller of a durian stand and ask him to help me pick out a good one to eat. He picks one out for me, then cuts it up. He brings it to the table, and then I start to take my first bite. The first bite I taste the flavor is bitter, the second bite is bitter but a little sweet. So far I am not a fan of the flavor and creamy texture in my mouth. I wont to give up at this point with two bites, then my husband says if he feeds me it will be a little more pleasant. So I give in and try it once again. As I take the last bite I get the same rush of flavors, its very bitter and the texture doesn't go well in my palette. So that is it for me trying durian, I know now I am not a fan. I have a another question? I don't understand how the locals love eating this.I thank the vendor and leave back to my side of town.
