Kota88 is a new Chinese Indonesian Cuisine concept restaurant, just opened 2 months ago on 10th August 2018. It is strategically located at Siglap, along East Coast Road.
The word ‘Kota’ means a city in the Indonesian language. They serve Masakan Tionghoa Indonesia hailing from Jakarta’s Chinatown, Glodok. It brings back the olden day memories of the succulent heritage taste to Singapore. They serve a mix of Chinese dishes with local Indonesian culinary and spices.
Head over now, as they are serving new mouthwatering Kota88 cocktails.
First to reach our table is Special Bihun dish. The wok hey is good and you can taste a bit smoky flavour. It is served with traditional Indonesian chilli and green cut chilli. Please do not under-estimate the innocent look of the green cut chilli, cos the taste leave a burning aftertaste in your throat. Do flush down with cold water or milk.
The green cut chilli with garlic has the same burning taste as Bhutanese Cheese green cut chilli sauce. Simple looking yet gave a powerful punch after. Ooo… “hot hot hot”!
Next, we have the homemade Ngo Hiang dish. This dish is mild in taste. It has an additional ingredient of chopped green onions. We love the sweet chilli sauce that comes with it. Well combined for that heartwarming flavour.
Finally, our Pork Satay set arrived. They do come with many types of marinated sauce and pig innards. We ordered the Sweet Marinated Pork Satay and Savory Marinated Pork Satay only. (we did not order the liver, skin and intestines satay, sorry we are not adventurous enough)
Do note that instead of the common peanuts satay sauce we always have; Kota88 is serving special traditional ginger powder served with lime juice here. Very refreshing! Please see video below for the demo how to eat this dish (explanation from Chef himself).
We are a bit disappointed as the crab need to be ordered a day before. Ms Shein explains to us that they serve the freshest seafood. So she passed us a name card and advice us to call in one day in advance for crab for the next day.
