This is where the culinary journey in Indonesia started, a small "buffet" restaurant near Cikini train station along Jl. Cikini Raya. It is always exciting to visit a new country, where you don't know the language nor the local cuisine. So it is best to watch the locals and copy them. We just loaded our plates with nearly everything they had and enjoyed our first meal in Jakarta. Besides squid we had Gorengan with shrimps (lit.: fried foods), Perkedel Jagung, a distant relative of a Dutch minced-meat frikandel/rissole filled with corn and Pecel Lele, catfish wrapped in a leaf with vegetables. Enjoy all of this with a spoon full of Sambal!
