In this video, I explore Ubud, Bali Indonesia and give you a quick Indonesian food tour. From its beautiful rice terraces and wild jungles to its delicious street food...Ubud Bali has got it all.
Renting a motorbike and exploring the backroads in Ubud can lead you to discover fascinating areas. Finding hidden rice terraces less frequented by tourists is a rewarding experience.
Next, I take a trip to a local restaurant in Ubud Bali serving Nasi Padang cuisine (which originated in Sumatra). This is also known as masakan padang. Nasi padang consists of three elements: chili sauce, rice, and curry.
The nasi padang is cooked once a day and then stationed in bowls that are stacked in tiers and displayed in a window. To order, you simple choose which items you'd like placed on your plate and you'll be charged for the amount of items you've selected.
I choose a bunch of different proteins as I was curious to taste them all. I sampled the tuna, spicy chicken, beef, and mackerel. I also tried curried jackfruit, steamed local greens, rice with yellow curry, roasted eggplant, and fried tofu. This nasi padang meal was absolutely delicious and I couldn't have been more pleased with the quality and flavor.
Next, I take a little tour of Ubud Bali market in the center of town. Here you can find souvenirs, handicrafts, batiks, sarongs, and other Balinese artworks.
I take a quick stroll through Ubud Palace, a historic place just across from the market place. Although a bit small, it's still a great place to stop and have a look around.
Lastly, I make a pit stop at Ubud Bali Monkey Forest. A well know attraction in the center of town, Monkey Forest is home to hundreds of monkeys who play freely in the large enclosure. They are wild monkeys and they are allowed to leave the space and venture off if they want to, but most choose to stay (as there is plenty food, water, and toys available for them).
